Hi Whats best practice when removing entire site sections from an e-commerce store due to ending those lines and not having similar alternative pages to redirect them too ? Should you remove pages in GWT etc ? Any other measures to prevent probs such as 404 spikes etc ?? Cheers Dan

Hello, I'm attempting to perform an SEO review of the blog on www.aplossoftware.com. Aplos Software sells financial software and the blog is intended to bring in new visitors to the site with the goal of eventually converting some of them to customers. Here's my questions: 1. On aplossoftware.com site navigation, the blog (http://www.aplossoftware.com/blog/) is currently linked to in the footer in the lower-right under 'Resources'. Do you suggest we keep the site navigation link to the blog in its current location or move it some place else in the footer or in the header? 2. The bounce rate for the blog is over 81%. What is a reasonable goal for a bounce rate for a blog on a business website? What are some tactics to improve the bounce rate? 3. Do you suggest including a call to action to sign up for a free trial on the blog home page and/or individual posts? Thanks!

Our social networking site, Yookos, has a target of 25 million pageviews by yearend 2013. This is part of my responsibilities. As with all social platforms, user authentication is required before one can access the content. What can i do to improve the pageviews exponentially?

I have created some websites for my company Dor-2-Dor and there is a main website where all of the information across the board is on (www.dor2dor.com) but I also have area specific sites which are for our franchisees who run certain areas around the country (www.swansea.dor2dor.com or www.oxford.dor2dor.com) The problem is that the content that is on a lot of the pages is the same on all of them for instance our faq's page, special offers etc. What is the best way to get these pages to rank well and not have the duplicate content issues and be ranked down by search engines? Hello, As you can tell from my question, I'm COMPLETELY new to SEO. SEOMOZ flagged some pages as lacking a meta description. How do I add a meta description to the site? The site has a CMS architecture so I can edit text on the individual pages, but I don't know how to add a meta description, or where on the page it should go. Thanks!

How important it is for seo to install a site on a top level directory vs deeper directory? example: www.mysite.com VS www.mysite.com/catalog many eCommerce scripts such as oscommerce and cre loaded will install by default to /catalog and that's what I've been doing for most of my customer. does it mean it will be harder for them to get good seo results? A colleague of mine was saying that he has been able to get top ranking for a high traffic term by using variations of that head term on multiple pages that are associated with the main page. For example,he would optimize a landing page for the high traffic word "Construction." He would then build pages under this landing page that are optimized for variations of this word: "Construction facts," "Industrial Construction Companies," "Construction Resource Allocator" etc. His theory is that the subpages add credibility with spiders that the root page is the best for that root page. This doesn't seem like it would work, but I'm curious as to what other people think.
