I wanted to test the API and while looking on the documentation urls, I cannot find details on how to get Domain Authority.

      • is that not available to query ?
      • was it replaced by Brand Authority ?
      • is it only available for the paid API or for the free one too ?

I looked at many documentation pages but I find it very confusing and frustrating, there are many versions of the documentation and various URLs and not clearly labeled, I understand some are V1, V2, V3, etc, but I didn't find sample API calls for Domain Authority.

      Thank you.

To get Domain Authority (DA) using an API:

Choose a Service: Use platforms like Moz, Ahrefs, or SEMrush, which provide domain metrics.
Sign Up: Create an account and subscribe to a plan that includes API access.
Get API Key: Obtain an API key or token for authentication.
Make Requests: Use the API to query DA for specific domains via tools like Postman or scripts.👍

Sign Up for Moz Pro: You need a Moz Pro account to access the API, which provides programmatic access to Moz's metrics, including Domain Authority (DA), Page Authority (PA), and other link metrics.

            1. Moz API (Official Domain Authority Provider)
Moz is the creator of the Domain Authority metric, and it provides an API to fetch DA data.

            Steps:
Sign Up for Moz API Access:

Visit Moz's API page and create an account.
Choose a plan (free plans may have limited functionality).
            Generate API Credentials:

After signing up, generate your API key (Access ID and Secret Key).
Use the API to Fetch Domain Authority:

The URL Metrics API endpoint provides domain metrics.
Send a request including your API credentials and the domain name.

@adrianTNT I understand your frustration with the documentation, as it can be challenging to navigate through multiple versions and unclear URLs. Based on my experience, Domain Authority is typically part of paid API plans, and some platforms might have shifted focus to metrics like Brand Authority. It would help if the documentation included clearer labeling and sample API calls.

I understand your frustration with the documentation. It can be challenging to navigate through various versions. As far as I know, Domain Authority might not be directly accessible in the newer API versions and could be replaced by Brand Authority metrics. It's worth checking if it's exclusive to the paid API. For clarity, reaching out to their support team might help. Best of luck!

To get Domain Authority (DA) using an API, you can use services from providers like Moz, Ahrefs, or Semrush, which offer APIs that include domain authority and similar metrics. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to get Domain Authority using the Moz API, one of the most popular tools for this metric:

                    1. Register for a Moz API Key
Go to the Moz API page at Moz API.
Sign up for an account and generate an Access ID and Secret Key. You’ll need these credentials to authenticate your API requests.
                    2. Make an API Request to Retrieve Domain Authority
The Moz API’s Link Explorer endpoint can provide Domain Authority data.

You can get Domain Authority using APIs like Moz, SEMrush, or Ahrefs by integrating their API with your system.

SEMrush: They provide a different metric, “Authority Score,” which is available via API with a SEMrush subscription.
Free Domain Authority Checkers: Some free tools offer DA lookups, but they may not provide API access without premium plans.

"How can I find Domain Authority details through the API?"

Or, if you want a more detailed question:

"Is Domain Authority available to query through the API, or has Brand Authority replaced it? I checked multiple documentation versions (V1, V2, V3, etc.) but couldn't find a clear answer. Could you clarify if Domain Authority is only accessible via a paid API, and provide sample API calls for it if available?"

This should encourage a clear response on whether Domain Authority is supported, if Brand Authority is a replacement and details on the access level required.

                              Moz Domain Authority [Megathread]

                              domain authority da

Hey Moz Community, We've noticed that there are questions about Domain Authority, what it is, and how to positively impact it. We're here to answer your questions! For a full overview, please see our help hub article here: https://moz.com/learn/seo/domain-authority First, it's important to keep in mind that Domain Authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search engine result pages (SERPs). It is not a Google ranking factor. Domain Authority scores range from one to 100, with higher scores corresponding to a greater likelihood of ranking. Since DA is based on machine learning calculations, your site's score will often fluctuate as more, fewer, or different data points become available and are incorporated into those calculations. For instance, if facebook.com were to acquire a billion new links, every other site’s DA would drop relative to Facebook’s. Because more established and authoritative domains like Facebook will have increasingly larger link profiles, they take up more of the high-DA slots, leaving less room at the higher end of the scale for other domains with less robust link profiles. Therefore, it's significantly easier to grow your score from 20 to 30 than it is to grow it from 70 to 80. For this reason, it’s important to use Domain Authority as a comparative metric rather than an absolute one. The best way to influence your DA is to improve your overall site health with a focus on the quality and quantity of external links pointing to your site. Check out this video for more details on how to impact DA Happy analyzing!

Page Authority 2.0 is coming soon!

UPDATE: We’ve made the tough decision to delay the launch of Page Authority 2.0 as our team investigates an unforeseen issue. **To learn more about the rigorous testing process and updates to the timeline, **check out this blog post. Hey there Moz family, We’re stoked to let you know about an upcoming change to a beloved metric — similar to our refresh of the Domain Authority algorithm last year, we’ve been working on developing an improvement to its sibling metric, Page Authority (also known as “PA”). Page Authority (PA) identifies the strength of a particular page (on a 1-100 scale) and its ability to rank in search results in comparison to other pages. PA is a Moz metric, and while it can be used as a good gauge of page strength and ranking potential, it is not used by search engines to determine ranking outcome. On September 30, 2020, we will release the new and improved Page Authority algorithm that will be updated in a similar fashion to last year’s update to DA. The updated algorithm will take into account more modern ranking factors to make the score even more accurate and predictive. We recognize that the update to the DA algorithm took time to communicate to clients and stakeholders, and we wanted to be sure to give you advance notice again this time around. We’ve created a number of resources to help you understand the what, the why, and the how of this update to PA. Let’s start with a few FAQs that you might be curious about! Why didn’t PA update when DA updated? Although many folks associate DA and PA with one another, the two metrics are calculated independently. We chose to update the two metrics separately in order to take the care that each metric deserved, and to provide the highest quality algorithm updates for the SEO community. Why is Moz changing the PA algorithm? As with our update to the DA algorithm, we want to ensure that you have confidence in our metrics and the predictions that they provide. Data integrity is an integral part of our tools and something that we hold in the highest regard. To be sure that PA can best reflect the potential for a page to rank on the SERP, we’re making the necessary improvements. What can I expect to see from the PA algorithm update? Many pages will see changes to their PA scores as a result of this algorithm update. While the changes to scores may be somewhat minimal, there is a possibility that some pages will see material change to their scores. The new PA algorithm takes into consideration Spam Score and link patterns, in addition to dozens of other factors, so your PA scores may see noticeable change if your pages have spammy or unnatural link patterns. How can I prepare for the update? As with any change to a metric that you know and love, we recommend getting in touch with your stakeholders to let them know of the upcoming update. For those who are used to seeing this metric in your SEO reports, giving them a heads-up will help them to prepare for any fluctuations they might see to PA scores once the new PA algorithm rolls out. We also recommend using this update as an opportunity to educate them on the use of Page Authority and how you might use this refreshed metric for future link building projects. Our resource center has a few helpful pieces of collateral that can support these conversations with stakeholders and clients. Is Page Authority an absolute score or a relative one? Page Authority should always be used as a relative metric, to compare the score of your pages to the scores of other sites’ pages. Link Explorer looks at over 7 trillion pages and 40 trillion links to inform the Page Authority metric that you see. As such, it is always a wise idea to use PA as a comparative score to understand where your page stacks up in comparison to the other pages that are present on the SERPs you care about. Will Domain Authority (DA) be impacted by this update? No, DA will not be affected by this update. This particular algorithm update is specific to Page Authority only. Will API users be affected at the same time? Yes, API users will see the update to Page Authority at the same time as users of Moz Pro. We’d love for you to check out our resource page for links to a slide deck, a whitepaper, and other helpful information. The full announcement blog post from Russ Jones can be found here. Website domain authority dropped from 55 to 1 in two months

Hi all! Our website DA dropped from 55 to 1 in a matter of two months. Last time I checked, it was two months ago and the website DA was 55. When I checked today, it is 1. Needless to day, I am shocked. The website has been around since 1995 and has always had pretty decent DA and PA. We made a couple of important changes during past 3-4 months. One is to support HTTPS and another is to implement the responsive web design to support browsing by mobile devices. What could be the reason for such a dramatic drop of DA in a short period of time? Where would you suggest me to look for it? How can we get the problem fixed? Here is the website URL: www.infohub.com Thank you!

Is everybody seeing DA/PA-drops after last MOZ-api update?

Hi all, I was wondering what happend at the last MOZ-update. The MOZ-health page has no current errors and i've checked a lot of websites probably about 50 a 60 from our customers and from our competitiors and everybody seems to have a decrease in DA's / PA's. Not just a couple went up and down like normally would happen, but all seems to have dropped.... Is anyone seeing the same in their campaigns? Greetings,
                              Niels

Is it possible to send a string/id to an api call and return it?

I am integrating your mozscape API into a project of mine and I am in need of seeing if I can send and return a variable with an associated call. For instance when I am sending some batch URL's I am requesting the [upa] and [pda] back. I am also requesting the [uu] (canonical URL) but it always seems to come back blank. So the issue I am having is if I send a batch of urls to the API how do I know how to associate a [upa] or [pda] with a link? My thoughts are if I could send a ID with a link and return that ID back then I know how to associate the [upa] or [pda] with that particular link. Anyone know?
