Hi I have a full page for office-furniture-online. With a fair bit of text on it!

We use visual composer for this on wordpress - but we can't get a rank for it

I wondered whether as it is our key term - whether we should focus on the home page for this - but the issue we have here it the amount of text we can add to the home page without it looking silly - could we have a slide in side tab with information on or is this frowned upon?

hi, so, we would recommend building quality backlinks, to the homepage, then each of the product pages. make sure the backlinks are white hat, must be very high quality. we managed to get a company in Bristol which builds log cabins onto the first page using this method of organic seo

Great points by Roman and Tim!

I'm willing to bet that this keyword is super competitive and you'll really need to dig in in order to rank for it. The things that I would start with:

          1. Competitor analysis for the specific keyword (per Roman's recommendation) - evaluate 2-4 top competitors

          2. Competitor backlink analysis

          3. Optimize the indivdual product pages first - go for longtail keywords in order to try and get some organic ranking

            Some great points from Roman.

Also of note! How old is your site? Are you providing rich unique content that serves the customers needs? Office supplies if a very competitve market and can take time for your SEO to take effect.

What are you looking to rank for? your brand name or products anc product categories?

I used to work for VOW  (Then - Post Office shop, Caboodle, FindMySupplies) and Mamas and Papas here in the UK and invariably the home page was pretty much reserved for brand traffic. I would imagine you ideally would want your category and product pages to be the main ranking pages giving the customer the quickest route to basket.

            Cheers
            Tim

Well, there are many factors which can influence the performance of your site SEO.

              • Which keywords are you using, are they long tail keyword or generic keywords?
              • What about your link-profile?
              • What about of the link-profile of your competition
              • Your site structure and your internal links

Continued Drop in Rankings for Houston Office Furniture

I'm working with a new and used furniture client and we're struggling to improve rankings for their site. In the last week, they went from 25th place to 50+ for houston office furniture. Any help would be much appreciated. usedcubicleshouston.com

                Home page keyword in url

I have been looking into SEO for a few weeks now trying to perfect a homepage. Going through various sources on MOZ, and other examples out there on the internet, I keep seeing that you should have your keyword in the URL of the page. The homepage is the page most people want to rank the highest in google searches, however, you cannot put the keyword in the URL as most home page URLs are simply /. Should I actually make the home like this: www.example.com/key-word-example? I would imagine this would not be the normal for many users and would seem like it's not the home page.

Is it better to have an hreflang go to the home page in a different language if there's no corresponding page

If I have some pages in English, but not in Spanish on my website: Should my hreflang go to the home page on the Spanish site? Or should I not have an "es-MX" hreflang for that page? Ideally I would have all the pages translated, but this has not all been done yet.

                Spammy page titles

Over the last couple of weeks,  I have noticed that Google aren't showing the page titles for my online shop anymore. They're set up with a third party plug-in piece of software, and while it's an old version of the software, the developer said it wouldn't be causing issues. They have suggested that I re-write my page titles to be less spammy. The thing is, Google haven't attacked just spammy looking titles, they're just taking a swoop through my whole site and not showing any of my page titles in their search results. I'm getting "Category Name - Shop Name" showing. Here's some of the page titles no longer appearing and I honestly have no idea how to rewrite these to not be spammy. Are there any good articles on what's spammy and what isn't? "Coconut oil - best tasting in Australia. Buy online from <my business="" name="">"</my> "Discount Vitamix Blender. Best deal in Australia. Buy online from <my business="" name="">."</my> "Natural & Organic skin care for the face | buy online in Australia from <my business="" name="">."</my> There are others that are showing the real page titles, but I think it's only a matter of re-indexing before they're all not showing. Any clue?

                Landing Pages

Howdy Guys, We currently have around 19 landing pages that are near enough identical for each make of car. The content on each page isn't identical but you can tell its a template. Do you think we should change this and just target models instead of makes. Thanks, Scott

                Duplicate page content,

Hi, in my campaign crawls diagnostic, I have a lot of Duplicate page content, but  we use canonicalization and I used webmastertool to make sure the campaign parameters are not consider by the Google bot. Can you see what could be my problem, or do you have a tip for me or things to look at ? Thank You VB

                Old pages

I have a site where I have 5,000 new products each year, I never waned to deleted the old pages due to links pointing to them and keywords.  But I now have 20,000 plus pages, does having that many pages spread out my link juice or does it effect me in any other ways over having a site with 5,000 pages or should I keep not deleting old pages so I dont loose any links? Along with that I currently do not link to my old pages from my site so Im guessing google does not get to them very often if at all, if you agree to still keep them should I link to them somewhere? Because the products are not that simiiar and they do bring added value I dont think canonical would work here

Some of my pages are ranking for terms which I want other pages to rank for. What can I do to effectively switch the ranking?

Some of the pages are ranking for terms I have optimised other pages for. The pages which are ranking are quite rightly falling, because they aren't optimised for the terms they're showing for. However, I have pages which are optomised for those terms. How do I switch the SERPS to the page I want?
